A Follow-up
As regards previous post.
Here. Let me separate this from the capslock and keysmash and hyperbolic declarations involving death, you know, just so my point and the seriousness of it is clear.
We will ignore the fact that of the four actors named I have actually seen two of them and think that they are, all things said, pretty terrible as actors. Because while important, that is beside the point.
The point is this:
Taking a show where the cultures and the world that the characters all hail from are clear, blatant, confirmed analogues and amalgams of a diverse variety of various Asian cultures, where the characters have Asian names, where their magical martial arts styles that are the expressions of their very souls are Asian martial arts, where every single written word is actually IN CHINESE and then casting white people to play the main characters is offensive.
Here let me say it again:
There is no universe in which it is not offensive!
And I do not need Hollywood or marketing or network and studio executives explained to me, believe me, I understand all of these things very well. Each and every one of these things is completely irrelevant to and has no bearing on the fact that it is offensive to go: LULZ WELL IT JUST HAPPENS TO BE A CULTURALLY, LINGUISTICALLY, AND SPIRITUALLY ASIAN CULTURE POPULATED ENTIRELY BY WHITE PEOPLE FLUENT IN CHINESE XD XD XD!
And if you want to say something to me trying to justify why out of the 14 and a half million Asian-Americans and the 3 million Asian Canadians ALONE they couldn't find a way to cast a single Asian person in any of the main roles...just don't. Because, sadly, there is, in fact, no way that it will not be bullshit. And then I will have to go "BULLSHIT" at you and I don't want to have to do that.
That is all!
